Soy Burgers That Elate Carnivores
Posted 1 year ago
My first experience at Dojo (twelve years ago) was my first experience with vegetarian food that I LOVED.
The Vegi Burger Dinner, with brown rice and side salad, was fantastic. Their carrot-tahini dressing is amazing. The price cannot be beat.
Every meat-lover I know who has eaten at Dojo LOVES their vegi food. It is not to be missed if you are in the area.

Not worth the (cheap) price!
Posted 3 years ago by mvjavellana
The food is "cheap" and they're open late, but I don't think it's worth it. The food is still terrible even when I stumble in drunk. I've eaten at the St. Mark's and West 4th and they're equally terrible. I'd much rather go to the hotdog guy on the corner with my money.

ick.

I'm really surprised by the number of people who like Dojo. I've been there twice and made the mistake of ordering food that one might call Japanese at any other restaurant - here, it was terrilble, just terrible. Especially the Miso soup. You can find better at one of the little (and still super cheap) yakitori places on St. Marks

Dojo Practically Gives Food Away
Posted 4 years ago by eddhi
I don't know how they do it. I honestly don't know how they can feed four very hungry college students so much food they can't fit all the plates on the table and only receive $25 in return. How do they stay in business?
It must be because their food is pretty much gourmet for what you pay for it. $3 for three huge pieces of challah french toast? That's better than my mom makes it? And everywhere else? I'm sold. The first time I ate at Dojo, I was super skeptical because of the price. Don't even worry about it. No matter what you get, it will be good, and it won't cost you.
This place is so ridiculously cheap, and so ridiculously good. Even if you don't need to eat on a buget, it's well worth eating here.
The only downside is they rarely refill your water, if at all. Be prepared to ask. Don't be discriminatory, ask any waiter you can find because chances are it will be awhile before you see yours again.

A cheapskate's paradise!

Dojo's great for cheapskates like me (and NYU students, I guess). I stay with the Chopstick Salad because it fills me up on the cheap.
